Video Conferencing Lighting

When you have a video conference one of the most important things to consider is the lightin g.  If there is not sufficient light in the room your corresponding party will not be able to see you.  In most businesses there is an IT employee who comes in to setup video conferences prior to the actual meeting.  The reasoning behind this is to prep the equipment.  You need to make sure that everything is in proper working rder before you initiate any conference call.

After you check on all your equipment the next thing to do is set up the area. You will need to make sure that the angle is wide enough in the video monitor to catch all the important material you will be displaying during your conference.  If you are not doing a display then you will need to make sure the chairs in the room are in proper position. Everyone in the conference should be able to see the monitor without difficulty.

You can do a test view to make sure the lighting is appropriate for your conference.  You don’t want the light to be too dark or too bright.  If you have a light dimmer in the room it could make setting up your lighting a lot easier. Depending on how many ceiling lights you have in your conference room you may need to bring in another light source to properly conduct the video conference. Some conference rooms are not set up for video conferences so they don’t have the best lighting available.  That’s why it’s imperative that you set up a test conference call to ensure your video meeting runs smoothly.
